Our Story

The idea for Sides Chik was born in our own kitchen. For the past four years, every time we cooked dinner and the flavors came together perfectly, we’d smile and say one word: “Sellable!” That simple phrase sparked the vision to share our love of soul food with the world.

Cooking has always been more than just food in our family—it’s tradition, history, and love passed down through generations. My great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth, owned sharecropping land in the South and cooked meals for all the renters, feeding not just stomachs, but spirits. From her, a legacy of soul food was born and carried on through each generation.

Growing up, some of my fondest memories were Thanksgiving feasts in our home. My sisters and I would be shoulder-to-shoulder with our mom in the kitchen—chopping, cleaning, seasoning, and cooking all of our favorite dishes. That was our classroom, and those family traditions were the foundation for the flavors you taste today.

So when you enjoy a plate from Sides Chick, know that it comes with history, heart, and a whole lot of soul. You could say I’ve been in training for this moment my entire life.
